Our 17th summer of camp at Gasper River Catholic Youth Camp is quickly approaching. Maybe, as a parent, you’ve heard of camp but don’t know anything about it and may even be a little nervous about sending your child to camp.

Thanks to multiple “community and ministry partners… as well as many generous donors who believe in strengthening marriages,” Danny May, the director of the Diocese of Owensboro’s Office of Marriage and Family Life, recently learned some big news: the $50,000 matching grant he’d been working on had finally been achieved, securing a total of $100,000 for marriage ministry in western Kentucky.

Holy Spirit Parish in Bowling Green, Ky., is hosting a date night event for married couples on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, featuring special guests Brad and Marilyn Rhoads.

On Sept. 24, 67 married couples gather at St. Stephen Cathedral for the annual Marriage Celebration Mass with Bishop William F. Medley.

After taking off throughout the Diocese of Owensboro, a marriage enrichment program is expanding to other dioceses and parishes around the United States as leaders seek ways to embrace the Vatican’s proposal of a catechumenal model for marriage formation.

On July 20, 2023, the Office of Marriage and Family Life for the Diocese of Owensboro announced Megan Bell of Murray, Ky., as the newest certified teacher of the Billings Ovulation Method of natural family planning.

The title of the retreat says it all: “Life-Giving Wounds.” That phrase implies the entire focus of the weekend healing retreat, which is to bring God’s healing to the wounds experienced by adult children of divorce or separation.

Life is full of joy and wonder. But every family experiences struggles and setbacks at some point. We all need help sometimes, a listening ear, and support from someone who’s already been down that road.
