‘We love you!’ – Carmel Home grateful to visiting seminarians
BY SR. MARIA CARMELITA NAVARRO CARMEL, DCJ, SPECIAL TO THE WESTERN KENTUCKY CATHOLIC
We are grateful to Saint Meinrad Archabbey for sending seminarians our way as part of their ministry assignment. It’s a gift and blessing for us to get to know our future priests! This is very meaningful for us because we pray for priestly and consecrated vocations twice daily.
Our dear residents, staff and sisters have truly enjoyed getting to know our Saint Meinrad seminarians who came over on (most) Wednesday afternoons. Nicolas Caicedo (Louisville, Ky.), Joshua Freund (Springfield, Ill.), Zoilo Perez (Memphis, Tenn.) and Brett Reggio (Shreveport, La.) have been coming for their ministry assignment since September.
They took part in Benediction, taking turns leading the rosary, assisting Fr. Ray Clark, our chaplain, and Joshua played the organ. They’ve participated in activities and helped serve and shared meals with our residents. They are an energetic and lively group! When they’re with a group of residents you can expect lively chatter and laughter. They have formed friendships with all of us!
In October, they shared their vocation stories with all of us in the Activity Hall. In December they, along with Diana Beaven and Kiersten O’Bryan, provided musical entertainment for our annual infirmary open house. In February they crowned our 2026 Carmel Home King (Richard Greenwell) and Queen (Judy Roby). On their last day of ministry, April 22, we had the blessing of the Home and Convent. It made quite an impression on everyone as Fr. Ray, the sisters and the seminarians processed all over as we prayed several litanies, sang Easter songs and rang the bells. We had Benediction then all gathered in the lobby to say our farewells and prayerful wishes. Nico, Josh, Zoilo and Brett, be assured of our continued prayers for you! We love you!
