Making disciples better stewards

Many of us are familiar with language about making disciples, and how important that journey is for our parishes in the Diocese of Owensboro. Stewardship is a disciple’s response, so in other words, once you become a disciple – a follower of Christ – then your example shows others how to become good stewards of everything that God has blessed in their care. And that doesn’t just mean money.

Prayer

In our Church, prayer is an important aspect of the meaning of stewardship. It represents our deep spiritual connection and responsibility to God. Stewardship through prayer means dedicating time to seek guidance, intercede for others, and express gratitude for the blessings bestowed upon us. Through prayer, we acknowledge our dependence on God and commit ourselves to his will, aligning our actions with his purpose.

Service

Service embodies another piece of stewardship in our Church. It signifies the selfless act of giving one’s time, talents, and resources to serve both our faith community and the wider world. Our commitment to service as stewards is a reflection of Christ’s teachings of love and compassion. By actively engaging in acts of service, we demonstrate our dedication to nurturing our faith and making a positive impact on the lives of others, embodying the principles of stewardship in action.

Generosity

Generosity is also a fundamental part of stewardship in our Church, symbolizing our willingness to share the blessings we’ve received. It encompasses not only financial giving but also a spirit of openheartedness and abundance. As stewards, we generously contribute to support our Church’s mission, aid those in need, and advance God’s work on earth. Generosity is a powerful expression of faith.
