Catholic scouts honored at annual diocesan Mass

BY WKC STAFF

On March 3, 2024, St. Anthony Parish in Utica hosted the annual Religious Emblems Awards Ceremony during a Mass celebrating Catholic scouts.

Those who received awards this year were all members of Cub Scout Pack 120, which meets at St. Pius X Parish in Owensboro. They were: James Hagan, who received the Light of Christ Award; and Ethan Hagan, Breandan Murphy, Samuel Osborne, Lucas Salvina, and Warson Underwood, all of whom received the Parvuli Dei Award.

Other awards given to Catholic scouts include the Ad Altare Dei Emblem, which is for Scouts, Sea Scouts, and Venturers who are Catholic and 13-14 years old; and the Pope Pius XII Emblem, which is for Scouts, Sea Scouts, and Venturers who are Catholic and older than 14 years old. The Ad Altare Dei Emblem exists to help scouts grow in their spiritual experience of their relationship to God and the Church. The Pope Pius XII Emblem exists to help scouts explore vocations and ministries in the Church as calls from God.
