Trivia night at Our Lady of Lourdes helps fundraise for parish needs

On April 15, 2023, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Owensboro sponsored its first annual Trivia Night. In the fall 2022, Fr. Pat Reynolds, pastor, had suggested the idea to a group of parishioners as a way to raise funds and to promote fellowship in the parish.
The group began planning and selected a Saturday in April after Easter. Many members of the group play trivia on Tuesday nights and were familiar with the program they decided to use. A spaghetti supper was served prior to playing trivia and a cash bar was also provided. In addition, items were offered for auction. There were approximately 20 items available including tickets to basketball games from Kentucky Wesleyan College and tickets to football games from Wesleyan as well as to the University of Kentucky. Fr. Reynolds offered a meal at his home for six people as another auction item.
Eighty people competed in teams of four to eight players playing for cash prizes of $100 for first, $50 for second and $25 for third. There were seven rounds of 10 questions and the winning team of each round received a gift card to a local restaurant. One of the rounds was Owensboro trivia. The questions were tough, but everyone had a wonderful time.
The money raised from the event will be used for various parish needs. The first purchase will be new albs for the altar servers. Trivia Night was a success and plans are underway for next year. Mark your calendars when Our Lady of Lourdes will host Trivia Night on April 27, 2024.
