Receiving Our Lord: First Holy Communion at St. Martin Parish

BY NICOLE GRAY, SPECIAL TO THE WESTERN KENTUCKY CATHOLIC

While they were eating, Jesus took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it, he broke it, gave it to the disciples, and said, ‘Take, eat; this is my body.’ Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks, he gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you; for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.’ —Matthew 26:26–28

First Holy Communion is, without question, a time of great joy! These beautiful young people received First Holy Communion on April 30, 2022 at St. Martin Parish in Rome. Please continue to pray for them so that they may always have the same enthusiasm receiving Our Lord from now on, as they did on this special day and that they remember that that Jesus Christ is really and truly present in the Eucharist—Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity.

Nicole Gray is the director of communications at St. Martin Parish in Rome.
