Women of St. Joseph in Bowling Green complete Marian consecration

Roses were placed at the feet of a statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. Joseph Parish in Bowling Green for the Dec. 8, 2021 Marian consecration. COURTESY OF FR. COREY D. BRUNS

On Dec. 8, 2021, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 20 women of St. Joseph Parish in Bowling Green completed their 33-day consecration to Our Lady. What started as a Bible study for the Hispanic women of the parish grew into a consecration journey as the members together decided to do this Marian devotion, which has been a tradition in the Catholic Church for centuries.

At a special Mass at the parish on Dec. 8, celebrated by parochial vicar Fr. Corey D. Bruns, the women processed up the aisle and placed roses by a statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Fr. Bruns blessed miraculous medals for the women and helped them complete their consecration.

Fr. Bruns told the WKC that the women are interested in inviting other women to do the Marian consecration.
