BY WKC STAFF

From Dec. 6-9, 2024, Bishop William F. Medley visited Huamantla in Tlaxcala, Mexico, to celebrate with a community of women religious who have served the Diocese of Owensboro for many years.

The Misioneras del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus ad Gentes (Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus) were celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of their order, and had invited the bishop to celebrate with them. Bishop Medley traveled to Mexico accompanied by Dcn. Chris Gutiérrez, director of Hispanic/Latino ministry for the diocese, and Fr. Carmelo Jimenez, pastor of St. Michael Parish in Sebree.

Several of these sisters currently serve in Hispanic ministry in parishes of the diocese. To learn more about their vocation, visit https://adgenteshuamantla.blogspot.com.
