Pastor sworn in as U.S. citizen Aug. 30

Fr. Michael Charles Ajigo Abiero, a priest of the Diocese of Owensboro, was sworn in as a United States citizen on Aug. 30, 2024, during the Worldfest Naturalization Ceremony in Louisville, Ky. The ceremony was held at the Muhammad Ali Center.

Born in Kenya to an Anglican family and convincing them all to convert to Catholicism by the time he was eight years old, Fr. Abiero was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Owensboro on May 30, 2015. He has served in many parishes across western Kentucky since then.

Today, Fr. Abiero is the pastor of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Cloverport and Holy Guardian Angels Parish in Irvington.
