Brescia University community asks Holy Spirit to bless new academic year at opening Mass

BY BRESCIA UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF PUBLIC RELATIONS AND MARKETING

Brescia University in Owensboro held its annual Mass of the Holy Spirit on Sept. 3, 2024, with Bishop William F. Medley presiding. This Mass is celebrated each year asking the Holy Spirit to bless the new academic year and to gift the Brescia community with intellectual gifts of wisdom and understanding, effective administration gifts of counsel and strength and personal holiness in knowledge and reverence of the Lord.  As a community, we commit to living a life of Caritas: to reflect upon God’s love for us, the meaning of God’s love for us, and how we give witness to God’s love for all. At this Mass, the unity symbol for the class of 2028, created during the Fall Convocation, was sealed. Layers of sand poured into a clear glass vase represented eight states and 11 countries, all uniting as one on BU’s campus.
