Nineteenth annual celebration honors rural life in western Ky.

Bishop John J. McRaith, known for his love of the land and dedication to small family farmers, established the Rural Life Committee in the Diocese of Owensboro. On Aug. 11, 2024, the committee held the 19th Rural Life Celebration at St. Peter of Alcantara Parish in Stanley. St. Peter’s pastor, Fr. Will Thompson, opened the celebration with an invocation, followed by a dinner served by local FFA (Future Farmers of America) students. The evening concluded with awards honoring those who have shown exceptional hard work and generosity in the local farming community.
